Bedarra Weddings
Congratulations on your engagement, this will be a very exciting time for you both, deciding on your wedding date, location and a specialised celebrant to marry you will be the first of many things to book. I would personally like to recommend if you are looking for a small intimate island wedding with only a very few guests if not any at all please have a look at Bedarra Island as this is where I had my wedding day and I still have beautiful memories of my most perfect day in my life.
If you would like to have more than 12 guests and marrying on a beach is where you would like to say your vows Tropical North Queensland has so many beautiful locations to choose from, some of which include Mission Beach, Dunk Island, Palm Cove, and Cairns Esplanade. They all have stunning beaches and romantic sunsets, perfect for photo opportunites and they have a large number of hotels for catering that I can suggest for your guests to stay and for the reception. Cairns and the Tropical North just oozes tropical beaches for romantic beach weddings, all you will need to do is decide on which place you would like to be, and a date.
I would like to suggest for you to consider the weather conditions that Tropical North Queensland has as from January through until the end of April we can experience the wet season. May through until December can be breathtaking and just what you are wishing for. I have lived here in Cairns for the past 15 years and have a lot of local knowledge, please feel free to ask any questions that you may have.

The Celebrant
Let me introduce myself
I am one of the youngest civil marriage celebrants in Queensland (b1973) and am able to offer a fresh new approach to wedding ceremonies. No two weddings should be the same & as part of my commitment to you I offer my couples a personalised ceremony involving as much input from you both as possible to make it perfect, reflecting the love that you share and what is special to you both.
Being a former model and proprietor of North Queensland Models, also teaching modelling and TV presenting I can offer you the skills that I have obtained through this. I also have a good sense of presentation, posture and speech as this is all part of what I can offer for your day. I am sensitive with your needs and am dedicated to create a romantic ceremony one just for the two of you.
I believe that having a clear voice for everybody to hear and understand is as important as the vows. I also offer a PA system and Amplifier if required for all of your guests to hear your ceremony.
I have been married since 2001 and have two beautiful young daughters. Being married at East Bedarra Island Retreat has been such a beautiful experience and an important part of my life and this is what prompted me to become a celebrant, to make a difference for couples considering marriage by creating a personalised ceremony with real feeling.
I believe that when you meet your special life partner, marriage does make a difference....it makes you grow together and takes you to the next level.
There is a saying that I just adore "We are all angels with one wing, it is only when you meet your love in life that then you can fly".
I have had the honour of being appointed a Civil Marriage Celebrant by Australia's Attorney General, since September 2007 and thank the couples who have already chosen me as their celebrant, it has already been an amazing journey for me and I welcome all couples who are considering marriage to consider me as their celebrant.
The first step is to call for an appointment and then make your decision on who you have, as it is important for me that you are both happy and can communicate comfortably with your special wishes.
I am able to wear anything that suits the style and tone of your ceremony and am flexible with locations and time of the day.

To book your celebrant for your wedding in tropical North Queensland
Please feel free to call or email me to arrange a free consultation as I feel that it is very important for both yourselves and me that you choose a celebrant , someone who you can communicate with and feel confident with to plan your special wedding day the way that you want it to be. Before committing to book my services I can meet you at my home office: 199 Ellis Road, Bellenden Ker or in Cairns at a chosen venue and time.
A deposit of $200 is required to confirm a booking and also a completed NOIM form which you can download off of the government site in the links below for your wedding day and a final payment of $250 is required 1 week prior to the wedding day or the day that you arrive here - This will include:
- A personally written ceremony as individual as you, as there are no two weddings the same
- Preparation of all documents prior, during and after the ceremony
- Communication costs
- Up to two meetings in advance of the wedding and attendance at the ceremony, in some cases this will be via internet and phone
- Flexibility with the location and the time of the day or evening that you choose to get married
- I will be there at least 30 minutes prior to your ceremony start time to ensure that everything and everyone is ready.
- I will be able to welcome guests and lead to the area chosen for the ceremony
- Use of a PA System if required
- A printed copy of the ceremony for you both on the day
- Lodgement of your documents with the Office of Births, Deaths and Marriages
- A free rehearsal if required.
- Any other special requirements to be discussed and everything is totally private and confidential.
Legal requirements
To marry in Australia you must be 18 years of age or over.
Documents required consist of:
- Birth Certificate
- Valid 10 year passport
- If divorced - decree absolute
- If widowed - death certificate of former spouse and previous marriage certificate
- If your name has changed by deed poll - legal proof
- Notice of intended marriage - available from Australian Embassy in your country
Originals of all documents including Notice of Intended marriage are required at the resort before the ceremony.

The complete wedding package $2500
Includes:
- Full co-ordination service to organise and book anything from the theme and colour,
- Hire of table, chairs, table settings, linen, crockery
- Food and beverage catering and staff,
- The cake and the flowers
- Entertainment
- Celebrant, photographer, videographer, make- up and hair stylist
- Boat transfers and tide times.
Please note that all items booked are at your own cost and quotes for each item are valid for 6 months unless otherwise discussed.
There will be a chilled bottle of French champagne on the day of your wedding and flowers on your bed but the most romantic part about getting married or renewing your vows at East Bedarra Island Retreat is being there together as there is no other location that offers privacy and romance. East Bedarra can comfortably fit up to 30 guests on the large waterfront deck.
The Wedding package made for two
If you are choosing a more private and intimate ceremony without guests the basic wedding package fee for co-ordinating will be $500.
This will include booking a celebrant, boat transfers, flowers, photographer and any other services mentioned in the above or you may wish to organise everything yourselves.
Entertainment suggestions that I can book for you
- String Quartet with a flute $545 (1 hour), $795, (2 hours)
- Fire dancers can book a team of 5 dancers, but they can also offer to cater for a hungy (underground cooking) if you would like a Polynesian theme and flavour.

Additional Venue Ideas
Any of Cairns beaches, we are lucky enough to have some of Australia's most beautiful beaches to choose from, some beaches include: Palm Cove, Trinity Beach, Port Douglas, Mission Beach, Dunk Island and Bedarra Island. You may wish to go to great heights for your vows and take a hot air balloon ride over the tablelands, or take a flight to the Great Barrier Reef and marry on a white sandy cay, you may have a special location at home, there are so many different locations to choose from and half the fun is choosing where you get married so take the time on your days off to find the perfect location.
